Curatorial Text "Meetings" 2017

According to the visual artist and curator of the exhibition, the work Pas de deux by the artist Maria Lucia Fontainha speaks to us of opposition of forces, without being a pamphleteer and with great sensitivity, irony and lyricism. By wrapping a steel tool, a handsaw, with white and soft feminine pads, the opposites meet and create a new reality, a soft phallus or an empowered vagina. Synthesis and expression of a future in which the categories are diluted, the artist's objects are also imposed by beauty and perfectionism in execution.

Review "A Burning Clothes" 2016

We are a family owned and operated business.

When I enter Maria Lúcia's studio, I find several works scattered on the floor. They are intuitive scenes full of clues. Immediately comes images of bodies marked by Roman 'bust'. They are like skins and textures of blood and pain.

We are a family owned and operated business.

The real confrontation with work reveals that they are burnt papers. They were made with iron and fire by a simple iron. It's greaseproof paper. Her choice shows that she wanted to represent intimate, personal, very private, almost unspeakable experiences.

Maria Lúcia creates mandalas and random crosses. Inquisitive images. God is a Delusion! It is impossible not to remember a shroud where the story of a living being is printed.

They are monochromatic clouds full of volumes. His glaring earthly lives are these roles. With a firm and accurate invoice she steps on the floor of the real. It has subtle skin and textures.

We are a family owned and operated business.

It burns and creates strong images with transparencies of our daily lives.

With rigor and elegance, it is incinerated and saturated, almost perforating the papers until the images burned by the iron disappear. At a given moment, the series is made and integrated into a point-blank mesh.
